SOUTH AMERICA
AT THE END OF THE WORLD
That’s not how we imagined it… After an absolutely unique, 3-week expedition to the Antarctica, Falkland Islands and South Georgia, we disembark in Ushuaia and arrive in a whole new world!
MANY MOUNTAINS – ONE MOVIE
The majestic Andes stretch from north to south through large parts of South America. In addition to several peaks over 6’000 meters altitude, their varied landscape also includes huge glaciers and much more.
THE LAGUNA ROUTE
Did the car-blessing in Copacabana not help? Or were we bewitched by the shamans in La Paz? First, we have to run from the turmoil around the presidential election in Bolivia, then we’re welcomed by unrests in Chile and now this…
DIVERSE BOLIVIA
After an uncomplicated and fast border crossing into Bolivia, we drive along Lake Titicaca. Our first stop is Copacabana, a small and rather touristic town on the Andean Sea – not to be mistaken with the glamorous seaside resort in Brazil.
THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS
Ever since we left the Andes, the landscape has changed completely. We don’t mean the absence of mountains or the Pacific along which we’ve been driving on the Pan-American Highway for hours already. It’s the barren and dry desert landscape that we are amazed about.
THE PERUVIAN ANDES
We are extremely happy when we meet our American friends Leah and Karl shortly before the Peruvian border and we all decide to drive the next few days together through the remote mountains of northern Peru.
