CHANGE OF ADDRESS
We are moving into our new home. It is a small cottage on the edge of a forest, on the beach by the sea, at the border of a clear lake, in the desert, in the mountains or elsewhere. We exchange two 3-room apartments against an apartment on 4 wheels. End of May, we are going to drive along the Panamericana. From Halifax we plan to cross Canada and go north to Alaska where we spend the summer. Afterwards we are always heading south, how much exactly we do not know jet.
The Panamericana is the longest road in the world, comprising a network of 48,000 km of highways and is 25740 km long in its longest north-south connection. Only 90 km from Panama to Colombia are not finished. Of course we do not want to take the most direct connection, but with our Toyota Land Cruiser with a cabin we also want to discover the dirt roads.
THE FIRST DAY OF A NEW LIFE
We packed our Van already a week ago, now we drive to Antwerp for shipping our home on four wheels from there to Canada! It is raining and we for better weather in the future.
Two days later, we put the car down in the huge harbor area on the Quai 1333: just like that, the keys we leave stuck and the doors are unlocked. A strange feeling, after all, there are so many dreams in this vehicle!
We meet two Swiss with their camper. They just come back after a year traveling along the Panamericana and tell us enthusiastically about Argentina and the wonderful landscapes along the road. They are looking forward to the start of our adventure, wish us luck and telling us “this day is the beginning of your new life”. The radiance in their eyes makes us confident and excited at the same time.
